Hello, Handsome.

I am your host, Noodles and Beef, and welcome to my blog. It's my creative dumping ground and journal. I post work from my photo projects, sketches from my notepad, and infographics from my research. Sometimes I write about personal stuff but more often I post photos of my butt.

I'm a single, gay, 25-year-old who lives in San Francisco, and I do UX for a living. Your hair looks amazing today.

Anyway, thanks for reading my blog, I hope you enjoy it!

hey, ive liked your blog for a long time. im a big chested guy like you. your sport/suit coat rocks. you said you had it tailor-made. so many tailors in the city. which one did you go to?

I just went to Saks Fifth Avenue for Men. They do bespoke in-house, it’s really nice.

You look really awesome, dude, but I'm curious about something: what made you go for a thicker look (like a football player almost) instead of a bodybuilder's look?
Anonymous

Genetics picked for me.

Even as a twink, I always had a very “sturdy” midsection and a broad neck-line.  100lbs later, my sturdiness has been amplified!  I doubt I could ever pull off the bodybuilder look; nobody in my family is able to get their mid-section lean enough…it’s a pacific islander thing, I think.

Cool! I'm 18, starting out with weightlifting, taking up Advertising in college, and also of Filipino descent. You're a big inspiration to me right now man haha! Anyway, now for the actual question. After graduating from college, what was your first job like, and how long did it take to get from that point to where you are now?

I started working right out of high school and did the full-time-student/full-time-job thing for years.  If you can get a job in your industry  while going to school, DO IT.

My first real job was with Kinko’s as a “Document Creation Specialist,” which is a fancy title for “Production Designer.”  I had dozens of jobs every day: business cards, resumes, file conversions, photo-retouching, special print jobs…there was one day where I had nearly 50 design orders!

The experience was invaluable. I learned all about print production, from offset printing to lenticular printing to package die design.

From Kinko’s, I went on to work for a local design agency, where I learned design and layout in much the same way I learned print processes at Kinko’s.  Then I went to work for COLT as their Art Director (big jump from designer), followed by getting poached by GUBA to be their Creative Director (a title COLT couldn’t offer me).  When GUBA folded, I went to work for a really big corporation to do User Interface work.  Annnnnd now I work for a really fun, small company (inside of a big corporation) doing everything I love.

It’s taken about 8 years to get where I am now.  But, my career path is not typical.  You do what is best for you.

Ooo, I'm an xxl, and I mostly have problems with button ups that are loose on my mid section and that get tighter on my chest/back/shoulders/arms. Maybe I should try those shirts :o What is your h/w?

I haven’t taken my measurements in a while, but the only thing that’s changed recently is my waistsize:

  • Weight: 230lbs
  • Height: 5’8”
  • Chest: 51”
  • Biceps: 18”
  • Neck: 20”
  • Forearms: 14.5”
  • Thighs: 30.5”
  • Waist: 33”

My thighs used to be bigger than my waist…THAT was horrible for finding clothes.  I’ve eased up on my leg workouts and it’s really expanded my wardrobe options.

Another brand worth exploring is EXPRESS.  Their MX dress shirts are 1-4% lycra. The stretchiness gives them a flexible fit with a tailored feel; a staple for any wardrobe. Most of my dress shirts are from EXPRESS!

Edit: Pants question

Zachrisso wanted to know what brands of pants work for my body type.

Again, EXPRESS uses 1-4% lycra in their dress pants, which is great for guys that have very large thighs and a trim waist.  Check our their PRODUCER pant, I have four of them…they’re very rump-flattering.

Bonobos also sells a few stretch cotton pants, and occasionally offers seasonal colours.  (Like my white stretch pants!)  The quality of Bonobos is much better than EXPRESS, and they use cotton, unlike the stretch-wool options provided by EXPRESS.  I highly recommend them…and if you don’t like their pants, you get a free return shipping label to exchange them or return them completely.

If anyone is interested, I have a $25 off coupon for Bonobos.

Besides the charts and statistics taken, what are your thoughts on cliques, presumptions etc?

I dislike cliques because I don’t fit into them and hate how the gay community is so exclusive to their respective social groups.

Remember when the Bear movement was all about bucking the trend of body fascism? I wish these “cliques” were more about identity and body-acceptance and less about exclusion and elitism.

Some folks (read: morons) feel that my survey has made segregation in the gay community worse, but I feel it’s simply turned a mirror on our own culture.  Look at the absurdity of 18+ different labels.  The only people who said “Looks don’t matter” are those who don’t align with any clique.

Do you maintain correspondence with people you've never met in real life? You seem like the type of guy provoke some fascinating conversation. Oh god I feel like a dork now.

Yup! Because of my poor social skills, most of my friends are online!

Speaking of which, I’m overdue for sending a care package to Gebji.

You spoken about your bodybuilder father. Why is it you never really talk about him? Also care to share what he looked like when he was still bid?
Anonymous

…I don’t get it. I’ve spoken about my bodybulder father but I’ve also never talked about him?

Anyway.

I’ll see if I can find any photos of him in his prime. He was a vegitarian bodybuilder when he was pro, but started eating meat when he married my mom (Filipino’s are tricky like that).  In his peak, he was 230~240lbs at 5’6”.  That’s all I know.  Never asked about stats or bodyfat.

He had prostate cancer a while back and then broke his shoulder, so he’s shifted his focus from bodybuilding to being a marathoner. His body has adjusted very well.

I may or may not be giving the Dylan Pose a try sometime in the coming days :P
bigbadbroseidon

YES! You should totally do the Dylan Pose™.

Reasons people should do the Dylan Pose™:

  1. It’s been carefully crafted to accentuate your triceps making you look beefier.
  2. This original pose is perfect for any occasion: dating profile photo, dinner with family, photo-bombing friends, and more!
  3. I’ll reblog anybody who does the pose. I want it to be a thing™
When studying advertising, was it required that you take art classes as well and if so which? I'm thinking of changing my major and I'm looking into Advertising since my mom did it for years. By the way, amazing blog! Hope you're having a great day. :)
thesuperjello

No, the classes I took were mostly about copywriting and strategy.  I didn’t know there was a Advertising Design degree until after I was already a Creative Director.  Sad face…I’m sure it would’ve been much more relevant.

I work with four copywriters and never need to write anymore. It feels like I wasted a few classes.

Are you planning on being at Bear Week in P-Town this year? If so will you be sporting any of those great swimwear while down there? :)

Yup! I’ll be doing P-Town this year for Bear Week! Say hi if you see me!

Most of the beach photos I’ve posted are from the strip next to the Club Med resort.  Here’s where it’s located.
